Kaspul Anwar bin Abdul Karim is set to represent Malaysia at the Fuelwatch Challenge World Finals in Sweden

fuelwatch-28aug17-aShah Alam, 28 August 2017 – Volvo Trucks Malaysia’s Fuelwatch Challenge culminated in a grand finale over the weekend on 26th August where the winning crown went to Prai-based Kaspul Anwar bin Abdul Karim from Prifaria Sdn Bhd.

“Fuelwatch Challenge is an extensive customer-driver outreach initiative centred on building skilled drivers and it was designed so we could partner with our customers to give them a comprehensive approach to improving fuel economy and profitability. We want to create better understanding and awareness on fuel efficiency, safety, maintenance, vehicle optimisation and driver behaviour. I believe our efforts in this have shown results as each year, we have seen more customers sending their drivers to participate, ” said  Mats Nilsson, managing director, Volvo Malaysia.

Kaspul Anwar bin Abdul Karim had achieved the best result of 3.97 kilometres with just one litre of fuel. The first runner-up, Johor Bahru-based Firdaus bin Salim from Swift Integrated Logistics Sdn Bhd, had achieved 3.87 kilometres with one litre of fuel, while the second runner-up, Port Klang-based Ahmad Sulaiman from Konsortium PD Sdn Bhd had recorded 3.84 kilometres per one litre of fuel.

He took home winner’s trophy and a BSN voucher worth RM5,000. His employer, Prifaria Sdn Bhd also won an all-paid trip for one to the Finals, a one-year free subscription of Volvo Dynafleet for three trucks in the company’s fleet and a trophy.

A total of 1670  truck drivers participated in this year’s challenge, which is an increase of 19% compared to last year. Since its commencement in Malaysia in 2010, the Volvo Fuelwatch Challenge has so far mentored more than 6,000 truck drivers from all over the country on how to enhance their driving competency and behaviour to be more fuel efficent and safer drivers on the roads.
