Isuzu leads the light-duty trucks market

Petaling Jaya, 19 February 2013 – For the third consecutive year, Malaysian-built Isuzu trucks have earned the distinction of being the country’s best-selling light-duty trucks.

The Isuzu N-Series shared this honour in 2010 and 2011 with its Hicom-badged brethren, built to exacting Japanese standards in the Isuzu-Hicom Malaysia plant in Pekan, Pahang.  In 2012, the trucks continued to be the preferred business vehicle with a total sale of 5,473 units.

With a legendary reputation for fuel savings and highly dependable performance, the Isuzu N-Series range of trucks have been the toast of businesses around the country and for that matter around the world, for being the perfect business partners.

Acknowledging the significant achievement by local distributors Isuzu Malaysia, Executive Vice-President and Director of Isuzu Motors Limited Japan Ryozo Tsukioka paid the local operations a congratulatory visit and presented CEO Kimitoshi Kurokawa with a Daruma Doll on behalf of the Japanese management.

“We are truly proud of the achievement and effort made by the team in Isuzu Malaysia and its dealership network. They have built a solid foundation for Isuzu trucks to grow in a very planned and sustainable pace. The foothold will be ideal for our future expansion plans,” said Tsukioka.

The Isuzu N-Series was officially launched in Malaysia at the end of 2010 and it has enjoyed a reputation among users for the fuel savings and highly dependable performance the trucks provide. Since its introduction in 1959, the Isuzu N-Series has sold over five million units globally. In its home market of Japan, the Elf (as it is known) has been the best-selling truck for the last 12 consecutive years.

Significantly too, Isuzu has also been the best-selling truck brand in Japan in 2012 in the light-duty, medium duty and bus segments.

“I believe the success of the Isuzu N-Series in Malaysia has been due to the excellent product characteristics of the trucks and the excellent value it brings to our customers. We also focused a great deal of effort towards building our network of dealers and ensuring timely parts availability. These factors added up to giving our Isuzu customers a total ownership experience,” said Kurokawa.
