Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd was incorporated locally in the year 2000 and has been very active in improving their overall brand promise. The Accord first introduced in 1976 as a compact car, has over the years grown into a full-size sedan and is today the mainstay of Honda as their key model. This 7th generation Accord is targeted at senior executives and businessmen. As a corporate car, its compatibility is unmistakable and although many may prefer it to be chauffeur driven, it is very much of a driver’s car with a DNA that will disappoint very few.

There are today, 49 3S centres around the country and 4 appointed dealers and this is another form of assurance for any company intending to own the Accord 2.4 VTi-L. In terms of the exact locations, they are in all major town centres in Peninsular and East Malaysia plus more effort is continuously being made by Honda Malaysia to improve the delivery process.

The new Accord comes with much advancement that may appear to be only the tail lights and the rear especially with the LED 3rd brake light and LED tail lights. But those in the industry know that the frontal grille design and the stance with the new fog lights give it a sporty and dynamic appearance. The overall profile and the dimensions of 4870mm (length), 1820mm (width), 1456mm (height) and 2740mm (wheelbase) make it a very spot-on corporate vehicle.

 

Inside, in complementing the exterior, is a dashboard that is well thought off with the main highlight being the Central Control Module containing the dual zone climate control and an audio system with 6-CD changer. The driver’s seat is eight-way powered and the leather/wood steering wheel comes with the tilt and telescopic feature. The leather seats are of quality and in terms of comfort, the ‘boss’ seating in the rear seat will be more than comfortable and this was specifically tested by us. The luggage space available is in our estimation more than enough for 3 golf bags!

The driving performance of this Accord compared to the predecessor, sees a 10PS improvement in terms of power with maximum power of 170PS at 5800rpm and the maximum torque of 218Nm at 4000rpm. The 4-cylinder, 16 valve chain-driven DOHC i-VTEC powertrain felt apt and responsive. The engine uses DBW or Drive-By-Wire technology that is designed to provide a smoother ride.

With safety being one of the key focus of Honda, the cabin comes with a G-Force control technology, dual SRS airbags and side airbags with OPDS or Occupant Position Detection System. The ABS is in place with the VSA or Vehicle Stability Assist and this area is well taken care off in the Accord.

The standard warranty offered is 100,000km or 3 years whichever comes first and additionally, free service is offered for first 6 months or 10,000km whichever comes first. In order to get an idea of the maintenance cost, it is estimated at RM327 at 20,000km, RM738 at 40,000km, RM384 at 60,000km, RM738 at 80,000km and RM505 at 100,000km.
