Record sales for MBM

Kuala Lumpur, 12 January 2012 – Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) registered their best sales performance with a record 7467 passenger cars and commercial vehicles sold in 2011, surpassing the 6490 vehicles sold in 2010 by 7.6 per cent.

Buoyed by the positive market sentiments and consumer spending, MBM’s passenger cars division maintained its lead in the premium passenger car market with a steady growth throughout the year closing 2011 with new sales record of 5431 units, nine per cent higher than that in 2010.

“2011 has definitely been an exciting and memorable year for us with sales records achieved not only in overall results but throughout the year within our first, second and third quarters as well as half-year point.”

“The confidence in the economy and market was clearly reflected with encouraging consumer demand and enthusiasm. Our passenger cars continue to enjoy the No. 1 spot in the local premium segment while our commercial vehicles division achieved a commendable performance despite a minor setback arising from the tsunami in Japan,” said Roland Folger, President and CEO.

Sales in the commercial vehicles division rose by 5 per cent to 2036 units. Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles posted a growth of 97.2 per cent delivering 280 units. The Mitsubishi Fuso trucks achieved decent sales with 1756 units delivered lead by the Fuso Euro II Canter launched in 2010.
