Toyota Tribe Urban Survival Skills
Managed by UMW Toyota Motor, the community of Toyota owners was actively promoting the basic survival skills in Klang Valley and this is the first time they introduced the workshop to the southern and northern region members. The campaign was part of the Tribe Toyota CSR apart from its online activities. The 2009 Urban Survival Skills are in continuation successful workshops held in 2008 where participants gave positive responses. These half-day workshops were intended to help the members to make wise decisions when it comes to their Personal Safety. It was conducted by Captain K. Bala, founder of The Malaysian Volunteer Fire & Rescue Association (MVFRA) The first 2009 workshop entitled “City Survival” was held on the 30th May for members in Klang Valley. It was then followed by “Road Survival” module for members in Johor Bahru on 3rd October 2009 and Penang on 24th October 2009. There were more than 80 active members who attended the half-day workshops in each location. The workshop comprised of two modules with the first module; the “City Survival”, that focuses on prevention of criminal acts bag snatching, home intrusion, sexual harassment, domestic violence, kidnapping, rape and more. The second module, “Road Survival”, focuses on how to deal with road bullies, car-jacking, car accidents and road related topics. During the workshop, Tribe Toyota members shared their personal experiences with other members. Lydia Chong from Penang said, "Sharing of life-saving experience has touched the hearts of many." "Teaches many aspects that we neglect. Never thought that road safety, survival skills are that important. It is a great loss to those who missed this session and I am fortunate that I decided to participate and register early," said Loh Choong Heng from Penang.
