Prai, Penang, 2 November 2009 - Every year participants from the automotive conference will get to tour two of the pre-selected local manufacturing plants and on the second half of the day treated to a short sight-seeing or city tour of the local destination where the conference is being held. This is part of the program of the Small Engine Technology Conference which is held annually.   

Considering the circumstances of small engines, arising concerns for global warming and other environment issues, this year's main theme of the Conference is "Small Engine Era – Pursuing a Society Less Dependant on Oil".

This year, an entourage of approximately 80 people which consists of industry experts, university professors and students get to tour the electronic plants of Continental in Prai, Penang. Continental Automotive Malaysia which has been established since 1985, producing automotive parts such as modular fuel supply units, body control modules, electronic control units for different automotive applications, including engine management systems, analogue clocks, and immobilizers (just to name a few), is also a supplier to MODENAS which is Malaysia's first national manufacturer to produce motorcycles, scooters and small multi-application engines.

The delegates, divided into four groups and lead by English and Japanese speaking guides, walk through the Continental's highly complex electronic manufacturing facilities which, apart from the production areas, consist of test laboratories, engineering and tool room facilities as well as a well handled warehouse.  

Continental Automotive Malaysia has a fully equipped R&D department in Penang that is technically competent in the complete development of instruments clusters. The R&D department is also able to provide designs and product development services as well as solutions customized for the local market.
