Hyundai Getz SE

Shah Alam, 15 September 2009 - Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors Sdn. Bhd. (HSDM) recently launched the Hyundai Getz SE (Special Edition). This is to commemorate the 20,000 units of Getz sold since 2005 in Malaysia.

Geared towards the sporty look, the Hyundai Getz SE is specially modified to make the car look and perform better. Only limited cars available for this special edition model. Capped to only 300 cars, each car has a serialised plate number starting with the number 001 for the first Getz SE sold to be placed inside the car. This number is only exclusive to the proud Getz SE owner. These 300 cars will be sold for a limited time only. So make sure you get your hands on this limited edition and be in a class of your own.

The extensive exterior facelift has been skilfully executed to preserve the original clean good looks of the Getz, while at the same time bringing it more in line with current European design.

The new fully integrated frontal treatment features a redesigned unified nature of the grille and bumper. The clear, wraparound headlamps with standard fog lamps also make it look much cleaner and more sportive image. Comes with a new icing white colour, the Hyundai Getz SE is set to steal more than glances from passers by.

From the side view, the strong shoulder line contour unifies the whole structure, while a dominant black waist moulding adds to the feeling of strength and stability. The side mirrors also have integrated stylish L.E.D indicator that is more practical and provides better visibility for other vehicles on the road. New alloy wheels including a highly sporting 15-inch alloy rim design, further emphasizes the dynamic styling, and serves to highlight the well-balanced overall proportions. The new Dunlop D01 tyres are also installed on the new Getz SE. The Dunlop D01 has the double V grove pattern, which performs very well on wet roads, making the car perfect for the Malaysian tropical climate.

The new bumper is modified with an integrated white finish with grill at the bottom to give it that sporty look. To complement the sporty looks, the interior seats and steering wheel now comes in leather.

The overall look interior of the Getz SE is livened up by a brushed-aluminium look at the centre dashboard as well as all door handles giving the car that extra edge.

Apart from the recent additions, the Hyundai Getz SE still performs powerfully with the 1.4 DOHC engine. The sporty 1.4 DOHC engine delivers 71.3kW at 6000 rpm with 125.5 Nm torque at 3200 rpm. In the fuel consumption test by the official UK source for Car Fuel Consumption and Exhaust Emissions Figures, a Getz SE 1.4 (M) showed a 5.1 l/100km  (19.6 km/l) in the extra urban condition test, a 7.5 l/100km (13.3 km/l) in the urban condition test and when combined, it showed a 6.0 l/100km (16.7 km/l). On the other hand, the Getz SE 1.4 (A) showed a 5.3 l/100km (18.9 km/l) in the extra urban condition test, a 9.1 l/100km (11.0 km/l) in the urban condition test and when combined, it showed a 6.7 l/100km (14.9 km/l).

Available in 4-speed automatic and 5-speed manual, the Hyundai Getz SE has a driver’s SRS airbag in the front and seatbelts all readily for its passenger safety. Apart from that, the Getz has a Multi Information Display that tells the driver the outside temperature, average fuel consumption and also distance to empty gauge. Since its first introduction, Getz has consistently been credited for its versatility and storage capacities. Similar to the older version, the Getz SE also has the basic twenty storage facilities, including a full complement of non-intrusive compartments. The door mounted map pockets add convenience to the driver.

In terms of seating flexibility, it comes with flat folding rear seats with 60/40 capacity and a dual height driver seat. The Space Wizard with three-position rear seat folding capability and 5-way folding options offer exceptional flexibility and comfort. The driver’s seat also has a folding armrest, which gives the driver extra comfort while driving. And with the rear seats folded double, there is an impressive 977 litres of useable luggage space. Altogether, these features ensure that Getz still remains in the forefront of this class.

The Hyundai Getz has won many awards over the years including the 2006 COTY Award for ‘Best Small Car of the Year’, the Transport for London Private Sector Award at the 2006 GreenFleet Awards, the BS Motoring's 'Car of the Year' 2005 and the 'Best Budget Car'. It also has 4 star crash test ratings as awarded by NHTSA.

The Hyundai Getz SE 1.4GL(M) is priced at RM 60,984.00 (OTR) in West Malaysia and RM 62,716.10 (OTR) in East Malaysia and the Hyundai Getz SE 1.4GL(A) is priced at RM 63,888.00 (OTR) in West Malaysia and RM 66,277.00 (OTR) in East Malaysia.
