Toyota Hilux Vigo 2.5L 2KD

Bangkok, 11 August 2009 - Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd (TMT) introduced the new Hilux Vigo 2.5 VN Turbo in the presence of Kyoichi Tanada, president of TMT along with senior vice president, Wichien Emprasertsuk, senior vice president, Vudhigorn Suriyachantananont, and vice president, Nikorn Prasertsom.

In 2001, TMT was the first automaker to introduce the common-rail diesel engine into Thailand for installation in 1-ton pick-up trucks – the Toyota Hilux Tiger D-4D.  With the outstanding features in terms of performance and fuel efficiency of the common-rail diesel engine as well as its durability, the Hilux Tiger D-4D has received a warm welcome from pick-up customers since then.

Subsequently, in 2004, the Hilux Vigo was first introduced to the Thai market being the main model from the IMV (Innovative International Multi Purpose Vehicle) project which involves the manufacturing of 1-ton pick-up trucks, MPVs, SUVs, engines and components in Thailand for domestic sales and export, with an investment of Bt30 billion.

The Hilux Vigo is the seventh generation of the Hilux pick-up that has gone through extensive research and development in order to achieve the pick-up truck that responds to every customer needs in every region of the world. It received tremendous customer response around the world, with accumulated sales of 1,380,721 units worldwide.

The Hilux Vigo is the best-selling 1-ton pick-up truck in Thailand for the last three years with total sales of 699,181 units, while exports amounted to 681,540 units.
