Damansara, 12 March 2009 – Lexus Malaysia today launched the much awaited Lexus RX 350 at their showroom in Mutiara Damansara. The event was officiated by Kuah Kock Heng, President, Hj Aminar Rashid Salleh, Executive Director, UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd and Takayuki Katsuda, Chief Engineer, Toyota Motor Corporation.

“The luxury SUV segment has been growing over the last 2 years and recognising this potential, Lexus is pleased to unveil this third generation RX model,” said Kuah.

“This model promises to live up to the pioneering spirit of its predecessors and proving its worth as the benchmark,” he added.

It is similar in size to the previous model but with slight dimensional increase all round. The width has been increased by 40 mm and the track, 55 mm in the front/ 65 mm in the rear. The height is slightly taller at 1,685 mm.

The engine is still the 3.5-litre 2GR-FE, 24-valve V6 with improvements to enhance smoothness, refinement and fuel efficiency. With the engine output centre lowered by 16 mm, the overall powertrain centre of gravity is lowered for enhanced vehicle agility.

The Regional Service Support (RSS) for customers will be available in Penang by the end of March and later in Johor.

“Our target is to sell 105 units this year and orders have been encouraging even before this launch,” commented Kuah.

The price is RM377,000 on-the-road without insurance which is RM4,000 more than the previous model.
