Triton wins another Award
In expressing his delight over the win, Keizo Ono, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia said, “Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia is delighted that the Triton 3.2 was awarded with the Pick-Up Truck of the Year. Winning this category for two consecutive years is certainly a testament to the Mitsubishi Motors’ passion and strength in advanced technology, exceptional reliability, clever innovation and exceptional build quality that have been a stable value for all Mitsubishi Motors vehicles”. The Mitsubishi Triton has been on a winning streak since it was launched. Mitsubishi Triton full line-up, consisting of the Triton 2.5, Triton Lite and Triton 3.2, has each won an award - The Triton 2.5 was a clear favourite at the Autocar ASEAN Car of the Year Awards 2007 and at the New Straits Times/Maybank Car of the Year Awards 2007. While the Triton Lite recently won the Autocar ASEAN Car of the Year Awards 2008 and the Triton 3.2 completed the list of accolades with a win at this year’s NST-Maybank Car of the Year Award 2008. Capturing a total market share of 20 per cent in the pick-up segment, the Mitsubishi Triton is the second best selling truck in Malaysia with more than 4,000 units sold from January till October this year. The winners were selected from 65 new models introduced between December 2007 and October 2008. The nominated vehicles are judged based on the following criteria - design to target a specific group, the practicality and functionality of engineering and styling, price feasibility and reach, passenger comfort, exterior and interior design, safety, performance and driving characteristics The judging criteria was well drawn up to pick the best of the best. This year, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution was also nominated in the Performance Car of the Year category at the NST-Maybank Car of the Year Award 2008 and the Grandis was awarded the Small/Medium MPV of the Year at the Autocar ASEAN’s Car of the Year Award 2008.
