Mercedes Family Day

Kuala Lumpur, 7 July 2008 - Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) held their first Family Day recently at the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club’s Polo Pavilion. The full force of the Mercedes-Benz Malaysia staff turned out with their families in tow to enjoy a day of exciting activities and challenges. With a turnout of over 700 people inclusive of 200 children, the atmosphere was one of relaxation and fun.

The event also saw the participation of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia personnel from across the country as well as 80 overseas guests from the regional offices.

Amongst the activities that were in full swing throughout the day were the  amateur sumo-wrestling with participants suited up in pillow-like sumo costumes attempting  to  knock each other down, the infamous dunking machine, a mechanical bull for the cowboy-wannabes and  a mini-motorcycle racing circuit which was a big hit with adults and kids alike. The kids enjoyed added activities such as pony rides, face painting and sand-art.

Another highlight of the event was the Mercedes-Benz regional soccer tournament with Mercedes-Benz teams flying in from Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam to participate. The teams showed great passion on the field amidst the cheering from an enthusiastic crowd. The Daimler South East Asia team (Singapore) emerged as the tournament champions with Mercedes-Benz Vietnam as the first runner up.

According to President & CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Peter Honegg, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia fulfills its daily functions together as a family, so it was great to  be  able  to  actually  meet  the real families behind the team.

“One of the main objectives of this event is to reflect on the importance of our family-life along side our careers and share our success with them. This is a great way for us to leave work and just spend some quality time enjoying each other's company along with our families," he said.

The Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Family Day will be an annual event moving forward. “It’s our way to thank the families of the Mercedes-Benz team for their support as happiness in the home makes for an efficient and productive working life,” added Honegg.
